Dear experts, We upgraded our outlook to Outlook 2013 64 bit, after that all application that send email by using previous version of Outlook are showing the message. OS is Windows 2008r2.

Either there is no default mail client or the current mail client cannot fulfill the messaging request. Please run Microsoft Outlook and set it as the default mail client.

I know how to set the default e-mail client. My question is: when I set the default client to 'Mail', why isn't the registry key 'Computer HKEY_CURRENT_USER Software Clients Mail' set to 'Mail' as the default client? It shows 'Microsoft Outlook' even after I switch the default client to 'Mail.' I too have had this problem. How do I set AOL as my default e-mail client. Go to search, type default, click on default programs, click on set. Open Registry Editor by clicking Start button (Windows Start). I have tried from Outlook 2013 ticking File-->Options-->Start up Options ->Make Outlook the default program for E-mail, contacts and Calendar but the message still appeared. Also tried going to control panel --> Default programs and checked anything that have todo with Outlook and couldn't find anything amiss.

Its like some kind of windows setting not able to recognize Outlook 2013 as the default mail client. Is its possible to overcome this issue?

It is a bad (or corrupted) registry key. See the following article: It also contains a 'fixit' that (sometimes) will repair this issue for you! Note: Although the article references Office 2010, you can use those instructions for Office 2013 as well!

I also saw something suggesting to disable the Reader Speed Loader at startup. There was also a recommendation to set the bitness for Office 15 in regedit to x64.tried this even though I didn't expect it would work since we're using 32-bit Office 14.
